You will usually be offered 1-2 assessment sessions, with each lasting 50 minutes.
The purpose behind assessment sessions are for the therapist to gather information about your life, background and the difficulties that bring you to therapy.
I will provide you with some information about the CBT approach and some initial information about the problem that you are presenting with.
The sessions will enable you and I to make a decision as to whether CBT is the right form of treatment for you and if so, to work out an approximate number of sessions that are likely to be required and to agree on some goals for therapy.
If you decide to go ahead with therapy, it is important that you are comfortable and have confidence in your therapist. The assessment sessions give you the opportunity to assess this.
If it is not the right course of treatment for you, I will make recommendations as to some alternative treatments to consider.
