CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a range of anxiety disorders and depression.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT for treating:

  • Panic Disorder

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Social Anxiety Disorder

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (excessive worry)

  • Depression

There is also good evidence that CBT is effective in treating other problems such as health anxiety, specific phobias and sleep difficulties, such as insomnia.
